Swami Pitambarananda

Swami Pitambarananda joined the Ramakrishna Math at Nagpur in 1959 after completing his M.Sc. in Mathematics. He received spiritual training during 1959-70. During 1970-78, he was one of the editors of the journal ‘Jivan-Vikas’, and held other responsible positions at Nagpur Math. During 1979-82 he stayed at Mumbai Math, and during 1982-92 he served as the warden and assistant secretary at Ramakrishna Mission Students’ Home, Chennai. During 1992-2002 he was the head of the Chandigarh Ashrama.

Swami Pitambarananda has been giving scriptural classes and discoursing on Vedanta since 1979. He did intense spiritual practices mainly at the Rishikesh Kutir during 1978-79 and 2002-12. Then onwards, on invitations from Mission Centres and associated institutions, he has been moving from place to place discoursing on Vedanta and related topics to monastics, sadhakas and general public.
